Student Welfare

The Academy has a range of policies and procedures in place that ensure the welfare of all of our students. Several of these policies set out expectations about good behaviour.  This means everyone feels safe and can learn. This also includes good learning behaviour around the academy and also lessons.

Our behaviour for learning policy makes clear our expectations for behaviour.

We have a range of staff who work together to make sure students are safe and well.

Students are allocated to a faculty and the staff in the faculty will have oversight of student's wellbeing. Each faculty is led by an Assistant Principal or Department Lead.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding the welfare of your own son/daughter please contact the appropriate Assistant Principal.

  • Ms S. Thomas (Ambition Faculty)
  • Mr M. Chadwick (Undefeated Faculty)
  • Ms S. Robinson (Courage Faculty)
  • Ms P. Lewinson (Resilience Faculty)

Telephone: 0203 371 3002.

Excellent attendance is the expectation. The norm is that students attend every day unless they are unwell, in which case parents or carers should to contact the Academy before 9am on each morning of absence.

To report an absence contact the Academy office on 0203 371 3002 or email Attendance@harrisinvictus.org.uk

Please see our safeguarding tab for how we safeguard our students and the link to our safeguarding policy.

Mobile Phone Guidance and Rules

At Harris Invictus, we are committed to creating a calm, focused, and supportive environment where all students can learn and thrive. For this reason, the school operates as a mobile-free environment during the school day for Years 7 to 11.

Mobile phones can be a significant distraction from learning. Notifications, messaging, and social media can interrupt lessons, reduce concentration, and make it harder for students to engage fully with challenging work. When phones are removed from the school day, classrooms become calmer and more purposeful, allowing teachers to teach without interruption and students to develop vital skills such as focus, resilience, and independent thinking.

Just as importantly, a phone-free school day supports students’ wellbeing and safety. Social media use during the day can increase anxiety, lead to peer conflict, and contribute to bullying, which can quickly spill over into lessons and pastoral concerns. By creating a phone-free environment, we help protect students from unnecessary social pressures, encourage positive face‑to‑face interactions, and establish healthy boundaries around technology use.

Our Expectations

  • Mobile phones are not allowed on site from gate to gate.
  • Phones must be switched off and out of sight before students enter the Academy and must not be switched on again until they have left the site.
  • Staff may check at the gates to ensure phones are switched off.

Consequences

  • If a phone is seen or heard, it will be confiscated immediately and held by the school for three weeks.
  • If a phone is confiscated again within the same term, it will be held for six weeks.
  • After the confiscation period, students may collect their phone from M007.

Sixth Form

  • Sixth Form students are permitted to use mobile phones only in the Sixth Form Study Centre.

We appreciate the support of parents and carers in reinforcing these expectations. By working together, we can ensure that Harris Invictus remains a focused, safe, and positive environment for all students.
