Oasis Shirley 0 - 9 Harris Invictus

This was our most commanding performance and victory to date. Invictus dominated proceedings from the first minute until the final whistle, with Oasis Shirley being powerless in dealing with the pace, power and clinical finishing that symbolised Invictus’ excellent performance.

The students played with good team cohesion and they put 100% effort and commitment into the game. Invictus’ attacking intent was evident early on and we were quickly in front with goals from Suhuyini Osman & Coree Barnes. The relentless nature of our attacking play did not waver and before half-time we added two more goals, once again  through two of our most consistent performers on the day Suhuyni and Coree. Suhuyini, who has been in scintillating form recently with 7 goals in his last two outings, had the opportunity to make the score line even greater in the first half, but unfortunately missed his spot-kick. Nevertheless, we still went in 4-0 at half-time, which did not flatter the students at all after the application and  endeavour they demonstrated in the first-half.

It is always a worry when a team is leading by such a huge margin at half-time that complacency can creep in. Invictus second-half performance did not support this notion as the boys continued to press in search of more goals that their performance warranted.  It was no surprise that we were handsomely rewarded for our effort when half-time substitute Jassir Rahmini made it 5-0 after a fantastic team move that included up to fifteen passes before the goal was scored.  The boys continued to dominate proceedings for the rest of the game. With Oasis Shirley defenceless and unable to deal with our attacking prowess, it was no surprise T-J Davies joined in the act with two further goals to make the score 7-0. Invictus were determined to score more goals after this and unsurprisingly the attacking double act were at it again when Suhuyini Osman completed his hat-trick after receiving a through ball. Coree Barnes completed the rout by hitting a firm shot into the far left corner of the goal from about 16 yards.  The final score of the match was a deserving 0-9 to Harris Invictus.

The team conducted themselves in a commendable fashion and their commitment, desire and work ethic were exceptional. There is one more fixture to play against Meridian High on Wednesday 20th April, the boys are desperate to finish the season on high and I as their coach am confident they will achieve this.
