Announcement

Year 11 Assessment Week - commences 10th November

Please click here to see Revision guides/information and to see the Assessment timetable

It is important that you take every exam session throughout your school career seriously. The results of these exams may affect the class you are in, the tiers (higher of foundation) you may study in Maths, the Sciences and Languages. Your results will also be used to make predicted grades for sixth form applications.

At Harris Invictus, we issue you a working at grade for your mock exams. This is the grade that we think you would achieve in the subject at GCSE if you were to sit the exam right now. Your results are compared to thousands of other Harris students who have done the same assessment and this is how we work out grade boundaries. The more accurate our information is about how well you are doing, the better we are able to support you – and the easier it is to make changes for you that will ensure you do your very best in your final GCSE exams.

Furthermore, getting into good exam revision habits now will make it easier to adjust to the demands of sitting your actual GCSE exams. You will know what works for you (and maybe what might not work for you) for your revision and the experience will be less stressful as it will be something you are well used to. Think of it like the GCSE exams being an important match day – you wouldn’t do it without lots of smaller training sessions beforehand!

Preparing for exams is a big task. You need to revisit all the learning from across your course of study and ensure that you can bring it to mind, unaided, under the pressure of exam conditions. There’s no way to make the exams easy, but you can take the pressure off if you’ve done your revision right.

Your teachers, form tutors and heads of year are all here to help you – so please do speak to them if you are worried about any aspect of your upcoming exams!
