Key information regarding Year 11 students

Dear Parents/ Carers,

Lesson 7 on Mondays

We want to continue to ensure that our students get as much support as possible in these final months in the lead up to their GCSE examinations.

In order to provide them with additional exam skills guidance, we have scheduled an additional lesson on Mondays from 2:50-3:40pm. These additional sessions will start on Monday 13 January with a session on Science for the whole of Year 11.

After-school Intervention

Monday – Maths

Tuesday – Geography, History, Languages, Computer Science

Wednesday – English

Thursday - Science

Friday – Drama, Business Studies, Art, Graphics

This intervention is targeted to ensure students focus on the subject areas in which they need the most support. However, students can attend sessions they have not specifically been invited to, as long as they have not been invited to one by another department on that day.

Parents Evenings

Please ensure you ‘Save the Date’, for the two final Parents Evenings for Year 11 this Academic Year on 23 January 2020 and 26 March 2020. These meetings provide fantastic opportunities for us to discuss your child’s performance in their mock examinations and provide detailed feedback on areas for improvement.

Saturday School

Saturday School for Year 11 will commence on the 25 January 2020. This allows subjects to provide extra sessions for Year 11, to support with revision and exam practice. Sessions will run from 10am- 12 pm. We will send out a more detailed schedule in due course.

Final mock examinations

To build further on the successes of the recent mock examinations there will be a final round of mocks for all Year 11s commencing the week beginning the 3 February 2020.

Mannings Tutors

In order to provide additional support in English and Maths, we have booked private tutors to work with small groups of our Year 11s for 6 weeks to ensure that we close gaps in knowledge and skills in this crucial period in the lead up to the Year 11 examinations.

If your child has been selected to take part in this, they will receive a personalised letter with details about when these sessions will take place.

Year 11 Prom

Finally, in order to celebrate all the hard work of the students and mark the end of their GCSEs, we will be holding a Prom at the end of the Year. However, places at the Prom will depend upon each student’s commitment to intervention, Saturday School and behaviour for learning in class, around the school and in the community.

Yours sincerely
