Over 500 Students Sign Up for Clubs at Enrichment Fair

Year 7 students Kriya and Grace report on our first ever Enrichment Fair. Read more student reports in our Invictus Scroll newsletter.

Enrichment fair (2)Over 500 students have signed up to after-school clubs after Harris Invictus held its first ever Enrichment Fair.

Designed and led by students, the fair gave students the chance to discover all of the extra-curricular activities that are currently running in our Academy, from Business and Enterprise to Basketball, Science, Art and Journalism.

“It was very fun! I was able to experience what it was like running a stall,” said Tamjid, a student in Year 7 who attended the fair. Although already a member of the Invictus Scroll and Science Clubs, Tamjid also used the fair as a chance to join Debate Club too.

Two students from each club were chosen to represent their activity with energy and pride. Many students worked after school to design and decorate their stalls with props, sweets and banners as well as helping to festoon the hall with balloons and posters. With a little help from Ms Davis, music was pumping and energy was high as students crowded in to get to sign up to the clubs.

Best stall

Cookery Club leaders Zahra and Kayleigh were awarded the prize for best stall after they provided recipes, salsa dips and chocolate brownies (with avocado!) to all students who signed up. Business and Enterprise Club and Books to Film Club were also given prizes for having over four pages of sign-ups each.

Long term, this Enrichment Fair should help loads of students expand their education and widen their horizons.

We know that employers love students who study extra-curricular activities because they stand out, we can make the most of these opportunities and we will have more fun, friendships and fantastic skills as a result of our first Enrichment Fair. Here’s to the one next year and the year after that!
