Year 9 Gamelan Workshop
On Wednesday 16th November, 15 promising year 9 music students joined Mrs Griffith on a trip to the Gamelan workroom in the Royal Festival hall on the Southbank. The students attended a 2 hour workshop under the tutelage of Andy Channing, the students had an amazing time, learning all about Javanese music from Indonesia. Students performed on a variety of authentic Gamelan instruments such as the gong, kempul, kenong, kethuk and kempyang which was enjoyed by all and learned the very important role that the oral tradition plays in music around the world.
